The Community

Querencia occupies more than two thousand acres of high ground above the Corridor on the San José del Cabo side, where the desert foothills tilt toward the Sea of Cortez and the light runs long in both directions. It is one of Cabo’s original private club communities — established in 2000, gated, and reserved for its members and their guests — and it has spent twenty-five years growing the way the best places do: deliberately.   The word querencia describes the place where one feels most at home, and the community takes its name seriously. This has never been a resort with houses attached. It is a neighborhood first — unhurried, understated, deeply family-oriented — where the amenities exist to serve the people who live there. Among those who know Cabo’s private communities well, Querencia is the quiet one, and its residents like it that way.

THE CLUB & AMENITIES

Golf anchors the club. Querencia’s original Tom Fazio design, Campo Bajo, stretches more than 7,000 yards through arroyos and ridgelines and has been ranked among the hundred greatest courses in the world; a second Fazio course, Campo Alto, now climbs the higher ground, giving members two distinct championship experiences inside one gate.

Then there is the Canyon Club, the community’s newest campus and a clear statement of its family-first priorities. Indoors: a climbing wall, duckpin bowling, an arcade, a trampoline park, a golf simulator, a billiards lounge, and a supervised Kids’ Club for the four-to-twelve set. Outdoors: a skate park, a bike-and-pump track, lighted basketball and soccer, sand volleyball, a ninja obstacle course, and Querencia’s biggest pool, water slide included. Two eateries — La Mesa poolside and El Mercado, the community market and coffee bar — as well as an on-site medical office.

Down at the water, the Beach Club opens onto a swimmable beach with one of San José’s most reliable surf breaks — a rarity along this coast — with family pools, oceanfront fitness, a satellite of the Q Spa, and dining that runs from barefoot to white-tablecloth. Threaded between it all: more than ten miles of hiking and biking trails, a full wellness campus with spa and movement pavilion, courts for tennis, pickleball, and padel, and a calendar of land-and-sea adventure programming that keeps three generations busy on the same weekend.

The Residences

Living at Querencia spans nineteen neighborhoods and nearly every way a family might want to inhabit Cabo. Lock-and-leave casitas and condominium residences — including the Ocean Residences steps from the Beach Club — begin at two and three bedrooms; single-family villas and canyon homes carry four to six; and custom estates range to ten bedrooms and beyond. Newer enclaves such as El Lago, El Valle, and Las Verandas offer turnkey new construction, while a limited number of custom homesites remain for those who’d rather build their own legacy property.

Cameron's Perspective

A disclosure first: my family has been Querencia members for several years, and we are building our home here now. What won us from the inside is community. This club has never chased the market — it grew slowly, reinvested constantly, and let its membership culture set the tone. The result is the least performative of Cabo’s great communities: less scene, more belonging. It fits us because we live in Cabo most of the year — your family’s rhythm may be different. If you measure luxury in privacy, golf, beach, and the feeling of a real neighborhood, Querencia belongs at the top of your list.
